Peregrine Falcon Pair — Northern New Jersey, Spring 2026 Mating Season 一对游隼伉俪 —— 新泽西北部，2026年春季繁殖季节

Peregrine Falcons (Falco peregrinus), known for being one of the fastest animals on Earth, reaching speeds over 200 mph (320 km/h) during its hunting dive. They love to nest on cliffs for breeding. A pair settled near a lookout point along the Hudson River on the New Jersey side as their new home. Their nest is hidden behind a juniper tree in a cleft of the cliff.

Every day between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m., the male usually heads out to hunt and then delivers food to the female. Occasionally, both birds come out together for play and courtship. All of my photos were taken during this early morning window, when the light is not very bright—especially on cloudy days—so some images required high ISO settings. I also missed many courtship moments due to the distance. These birds are extremely vigilant and wary of people, so I had to wait patiently for rare opportunities when they briefly came closer.

At the time I write this post, the mating season is almost over. Now we are waiting for their chicks to hatch in a few weeks and make their flying debut in May. Wishing them the best as they welcome their new family members.

游隼（Falco peregrinus) 飞行速度惊人，是地球上速度最大的动物之一，在捕猎俯冲时速度可超过每小时200英里（320公里）。它们喜欢在悬崖上筑巢繁殖。在哈德逊河沿岸新泽西一侧的一个瞭望台附近, 一对游隼在此安作新家。它们的巢穴隐藏在悬崖裂缝中一棵杜松树的后面。

每天早上7点到9点之间，雄鸟通常外出捕猎，然后把食物带回给雌鸟。偶尔两只鸟也会一起出来活动和进行求偶互动。我的所有照片都是在这个清晨时段拍摄的，由于光线较弱，尤其是阴天时，一些照片不得不使用较高的ISO值。由于距离较远，我也错过了许多求偶的精彩瞬间。这些鸟非常警觉，对人类十分戒备，因此我只能耐心等待它们偶尔靠近时的短暂机会。

写下这篇记录时，繁殖季节已经接近尾声。现在我们正期待几周后幼鸟破壳而出，并在五月迎来它们的首次飞行。祝愿这个新家庭一切顺利。
