Rainforest Life Symphony: Birds & Wildlife of Costa Rica (2025-2026) 雨林生命交响：哥斯达黎加鸟类与野生动物(2025-2026年)

This post is Part 2 of “Pura Vida: A New Year’s Journey Through Costa Rica.” (see the prior post) It documents the birding and wildlife expedition undertaken during the ACAP’s trip from December 28, 2025, to January 2, 2026.

Given the trip’s brief duration and itinerary, my photography focused largely on historical and scenic landscapes, leaving limited time for wildlife. This, however, gives me a perfect reason to return someday for a dedicated birding and wildlife adventure.

Despite not being a wildlife-focused expedition, I was still fortunate to photograph a variety of beautiful species across the regions we visited.

本文是《纯粹生活：哥斯达黎加跨年之旅》的第二部分 (参见上一篇帖子)，记录了从2025年12月28日至2026年1月2日旅程中有关鸟与野生动物的内容。

由于此次行程短暂且安排紧凑，我的拍摄主要聚焦于历史遗迹与自然风光，仅留有有限时间记录野生动物。但这恰恰给了我一个完美的理由重返此地，来一场专注拍鸟和野生动物的探险。

尽管这次并非以野生动物为主题的行程，我仍有幸在途经的不同区域，拍摄到了多种美丽的物种。

The Common Black Hawk is an accipitrid raptor. Its diet consists mainly of fish, crabs, and small animals. It inhabits mangroves, swamps, and tropical riverbanks in the Americas.

普通黑鹰：鹰科猛禽。主食鱼类、蟹类及小型动物。栖息于美洲红树林、沼泽及热带河流沿岸。

The Crested Caracara is a falconid raptor. It scavenges carrion and hunts small animals. Its habitat includes open grasslands, scrublands, and agricultural areas across the Americas.

凤头卡拉鹰：隼科猛禽。食腐肉、小型动物。栖息于美洲开阔草地、荒漠及农耕区。

Green Kingfisher: Small kingfisher. Eats fish and aquatic insects. Found along streams and rivers in the Americas.

绿鱼狗：小型翠鸟。主食鱼类和水生昆虫。栖息于美洲的溪流、河岸地带。

The Guayaquil Woodpecker is a medium-sized woodpecker endemic to western Ecuador. It forages for insects in dry forests and urban areas.

瓜亚基尔啄木鸟：中型啄木鸟，厄瓜多尔西部特有种。在干燥林地和城市区域觅食昆虫。

Hummingbirds are small, vibrant birds that feed on nectar. They hover mid-air and are found only in the Americas.

蜂鸟：体型小巧、色彩艳丽的鸟类，以花蜜为食。能够悬停空中，仅分布于美洲地区。

Lesser Kiskadee is a small flycatcher with a bright yellow breast. It eats insects and lives near water in South America.

小食蝇霸鹟：小型捕蝇鸟，胸脯亮黄色。以昆虫为食，栖息于南美洲近水地带。

The Little Blue Heron is a small heron with slate-blue plumage. It eats fish and insects in wetlands across the Americas.

小蓝鹭：小型鹭鸟，羽色灰蓝。以鱼类和昆虫为食，栖息于美洲各地的湿地环境中。

The Long-toed Stint is a tiny wader with long toes for walking on mud. It eats insects in shallow Asian and Alaskan wetlands.

长趾滨鹬：小型涉禽，长趾便于泥滩行走。以昆虫为食，栖息于亚洲及阿拉斯加的浅水湿地。

The Magnificent Frigatebird is a large seabird with a wingspan over 2 meters. It steals food from other birds over tropical oceans.

丽色军舰鸟：大型海鸟，翼展超2米。常在热带海洋上空掠夺其他海鸟的食物。

The Wood Stork is a large wading bird of American wetlands, feeding on fish with its sensitive bill. The Black Vulture is a social scavenger common across the Americas, often found near open areas and human settlements.

林鹳是美洲湿地的大型涉禽，凭借灵敏的长喙捕食鱼类。黑美洲鹫是群居食腐鸟类，遍布美洲，常出没于开阔地带及人类聚居区附近。。

The Muscovy Duck is a large tropical duck. Males have distinctive red facial caruncles. They are often domesticated and forage near water.

疣鼻栖鸭是大型热带鸭类。雄鸟面部有明显红色肉瘤。常被驯养，多在近水区域觅食

The Neotropic Cormorant is a slender waterbird. It dives for fish and is found from the southern U.S. to South America.

美洲鸬鹚是身形修长的水鸟。善潜水捕鱼，分布范围从美国南部延伸至南美洲。

The Nicaraguan Grackle is a glossy black bird endemic to Nicaragua and Costa Rica. It forages boldly in open areas and towns.

尼加拉瓜拟八哥：羽色乌黑闪亮，尼加拉瓜与哥斯达黎加特有种。常于开阔地带及城镇中大胆觅食。

The Osprey is a large fish-eating raptor found worldwide near water. It has reversible outer toes and plunges feet-first to catch fish.

鹗是大型食鱼猛禽，全球分布，近水而居。外趾可反转，常以脚先入水的方式捕鱼。

The Pale-mandibled Aracari is a colorful toucan relative. It eats fruit and lives in humid forests, nesting in tree holes.

淡嘴阿拉卡鴷：色彩艳丽的巨嘴鸟近亲。以果实为食，栖息于潮湿森林，在树洞中筑巢。

The Rufescent Tiger Heron is a stocky heron with rufous plumage. It hunts alone along forested riverbanks in Central and South America.

栗虎鹭是体型粗壮的鹭鸟，羽色呈赤褐色。独居，在中南美洲的林间河岸捕食。

The Ara macao, a large parrot, lives in Neotropical rainforests. Its diet consists mainly of fruits, nuts, and seeds.

绯红金刚鹦鹉栖息于美洲热带雨林，主食为水果、坚果和种子。

The Scarlet-rumped Tanager inhabits Central American forests, feeding on fruits and insects, with males showing a striking red patch on their lower back.

红腰厚嘴唐纳雀，栖息于中美洲森林，以果实和昆虫为食，雄鸟腰部的猩红色斑块非常醒目。

Snowy Egrets are graceful white herons with black legs and yellow feet, hunting small fish and aquatic prey in wetlands across the Americas.

白鹭是一种优雅的白色鹭鸟，腿黑脚黄，在美洲的湿地捕食小鱼和水生猎物。

Spix’s Guan is a large, forest-dwelling bird from the Amazon basin. It forages for fruits, seeds, and leaves in the canopy.

斯皮克斯冠雉，一种大型森林鸟类，栖息于亚马逊流域，在树冠层觅食果实、种子和树叶。

The Spotted Sandpiper is a small, active shorebird with distinctive teetering movements, commonly found along North American lakes, rivers, and coastlines.

斑矶鹬，一种活泼的小型滨鸟，以其独特的点头摆尾动作为特征，常见于北美湖泊、河流及海岸线。

The Tricolored Heron is a slender, medium-sized heron with striking blue-gray, purple, and white plumage, often seen stalking prey in coastal marshes.

三色鹭，一种体态修长的中型鹭鸟，羽毛呈现鲜明的蓝灰、紫和白色，常在沿海湿地潜行捕食。

Black Vultures are social, with black heads, short tails, and flap-flap-glide flight. Turkey Vultures  soar alone on V-shaped wings, and have red heads. Both are widespread carrion-eaters across the Americas. Turkey Vultures prefer open areas and use smell to find food. Black Vultures often inhabit more wooded regions, and often follow turkey vultures to food.

黑头美洲鹫喜群居，头部为黑色，尾羽较短，飞行时呈现“扑翼-滑翔”模式。红头美洲鹫则多单独翱翔，双翼呈V字形，头部红色。二者均为美洲广泛分布的食腐动物。红头美洲鹫偏爱开阔地带，以嗅觉觅食；黑头美洲鹫常栖息于森林茂密区域，并时常跟随红头美洲鹫发现食物。

The Whimbrel is a large, long-billed shorebird with a striped head, known for its long migrations and foraging in coastal mudflats for crabs and invertebrates.

杓鹬是一种大型、长喙的滨鸟，头部有条纹，以长途迁徙和在海滨泥滩觅食螃蟹及无脊椎动物而闻名

White-eyed Parakeets are small, vibrant green parrots with white eye-rings, native to South American woodlands, feeding on fruits, seeds, flowers, and nuts.

白眼鹦哥是小型、鲜绿色的鹦鹉，有白色眼圈，原产于南美林地，以水果、种子、花朵和坚果为食。

The Wood Stork is a large, bald-headed wading bird of American wetlands, using its sensitive beak to snap up fish in shallow waters.

The Yellow-crowned Night Heron is a stocky heron with a distinct black-and-white face, primarily feeding on crustaceans in coastal marshes and wooded swamps.

黄冠夜鹭是一种体格敦实的鹭鸟，面部有明显的黑白斑纹，主要在沿海沼泽和林地沼泽中以甲壳类动物为食。

The Yellow-headed Caracara is a versatile, opportunistic bird of prey found in open habitats from the central and south Americas, often seen scavenging or hunting small prey. The key characteristics are a pale yellow/cream-colored head and underparts, dark back, and loud, distinctive calls.

黄头叫隼是一种适应性强、机会主义的猛禽，分布于中美洲和南美洲的开阔地带，常见于食腐或捕食小型猎物。特点是头部和下体淡黄/奶油色，背部深色，叫声响亮

Costa Rica, celebrated globally as a “Butterfly Kingdom,” hosts an exceptional variety of butterfly species within its unique ecosystems. The country is home to approximately 90% of the world’s butterfly families, with more than 1,200 species recorded. The following photographs were taken in a butterfly garden.

哥斯达黎加被誉为全球闻名的“蝴蝶王国”，在其独特的生态系统中孕育着异常丰富的蝴蝶品种。该国拥有约占世界90%的蝴蝶科类，记录在册的物种超过1200种。以下照片拍摄于一处蝴蝶园。

The two main crocodilian species in Costa Rica are the common, widespread American Crocodile and the smaller, more restricted Spectacled Caiman—we saw the former during our Tarcoles River tour.

哥斯达黎加主要有两种鳄目动物：一种是常见且分布广泛的美洲鳄，另一种则是体型较小、活动范围更有限的眼镜凯门鳄——我们在塔科尔斯河之旅中看到的是前者。
