The Russet-naped Wood-Rail (Aramides albiventris) is a secretive wetland bird found in tropical forests, mangroves, marshes, and stream edges of Central America. It has a distinctive chestnut-colored crown and nape, gray body, reddish legs, and a loud, distinctive call. Usually seen walking quietly through dense vegetation, it feeds on insects, crustaceans, seeds, and small aquatic animals.
