The male Slaty-tailed Trogon (Trogon massena) is a spectacular rainforest bird found in Costa Rica’s humid lowland forests. It features an iridescent green head, bright yellow bill, vivid orange-red belly, and a long slate-gray tail with intricate patterns. It perches quietly in the understory, feeding on insects and fruits.
