Seven Lakes area is located within the Harriman and the Bear Mountain State Parks at Hudson valley, New York. Although the scenery is stunning in every season, the most beautiful time is autumn, when the trees and meadows turn colorful, attracting thousands of visitors to hike or drive by. Once out of NYC, take Palisading Parkway or Hwy 87 to 9w for about 1 hour to Seven Lakes Drive. Along Seven Lakes Drive, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery along the way and enjoy a visual feast.

The map and driving direction is at the right column.

Fort Montgomery

Fort Montgomery is on the west bank of the Hudson River next to the Bear Mountain, not far from Seven Lakes area, so I took the opportunity to visit this famous site of the Revolutionary War. On October 6, 1777. American patriots had fierce battle against British. Although the defending American Patriots lost the fight due to outnumbering 3 to 1 by British force and its ally, the battle delayed the British from sailing up the Hudson River in time to relieve Burgoyne’s forces at Saratoga. More than half of the Patriot forces were killed, wounded or captured. There is a museum to memorialize the fort and the battle in the original site.

The surrounding scenery is fascinating and astonish.

A thought at a moment…

Autumn, the Season of Nirvana

Dancing in the air and the branches

Is condensed green spring and orange summer,

Blown onto the lake of the blue

And into the warm black earth,

by unromantic wind.

The past days turned into dusty gray

while immersing in the chorus of the golden.

Waiting for the baptism of winter white,

Or reborn from ashes,

To have a different season for showing.
